This antique jeweled fly is an awesome display of the detail and craftsmanship found in early insect jewelry. Crafted in 18k gold, it weighs 12 grams and measures approximately 21.8 x 41.7 mm. The wings are set with bright blue sapphires and rich rubies, with emeralds running through the center and old cut diamonds set along the upper wings. A large natural pearl forms the body. Additional old cut diamonds, tiny ruby eyes and finely worked gold legs, antennae and stinger complete the piece.
The stones are individually cut and set to follow the shape of the fly, and the combination of color, pearl, old diamonds and handmade gold work gives it so much detail when you really look at it. A great antique jewel that is fun, a little strange, and seriously cool.
