1950s 14ct Yellow Gold Engraved Cartier Pencil
1950s 14ct Yellow Gold Engraved Cartier Pencil
A beautiful, sentimental, and functional designer pencil by Cartier. This pencil is crafted from 14ct yellow gold with a lovely bright polish, and has an inscription reading:
"Tom Revere
11-7-50
From Bill Benton"
While we don't know why Bill Benton gifted this incredibly cool pencil to his friend Tom Revere, we do know they must have been extremely good friends! This was probably a gift for a promotion or the like.
The pencil is 78.74 x 7.95 mm, or 3" long, and has quite thick lead at 2.6 mm wide. The lead is extended by twisting the pencil. All the appropriate hallmarks can be found on the tapered end of the pencil, including the Cartier hallmark, 14ct, and the number 758- perhaps a stock number. This pencil comes in its original Cartier box, just as Tom Revere received it in the year 1950.
