This incredible micro mosaic pendant dates back to the Grand Tour era of Europe, between the late 17th to the early 19th centuries, and is hallmarked 18k on the back as well as a "Rome" hallmark. This was likely a memento from the Rome Cathedral. The back of this piece tests as 18k, and the sides test closer to 9k. The dove, an ancient symbol of peace and love, is pictured with its wings outspread and with a small halo around its head. The details are incredible, with every feather standing out in relief; the artist even used the mosaic pieces to imply shadows and depth on the dove. The entire pendant is a heavy 17.5 grams, and measures 42 x 36.7 x 7.4 mm. A true treasure.
