The most divine example of an onyx locket- this 34.5 x 52.5 mm piece dates to the Art Deco period, and is chock full of beautiful and intricate details. Let's start with the front: the platinum bail visually extends down the front of the locket, in a petal like formations, each one containing multiple old mine cut diamonds. The bail itself has several diamond as well, as does the connecting link between bail and locket. The center petal points down, to the center of the locket, where an enormous estimated 1.50 carat solitaire diamond rests in a platinum bezel setting. In total, there are approximately 2.90 carats of diamonds on this piece that grade as VS - SI clarity and G-I color.
When turned around, the enchantment of this pendant continues; the 24.7 x 34.2 mm crystal locket panel on the back, bezel set in gold, reveals a look at the open back of the front solitaire diamond. A window to the soul, perhaps?
The entire locket weighs 23.6 grams, and measures 2" long (including bail). This piece is in marvelous antique condition, with almost no wear. Truly a showstopping jewel.
