A beautiful combination of original Art Deco jewelry and fine contemporary design, this platinum pendant began its life as a diamond pocket watch pendant and has been thoughtfully converted with the addition of a newly made diamond set Toi et Moi epigram and pressure closure bail. The original design retains its wonderful Art Deco character, with fine diamond setting, elegant proportions and the beautiful craftsmanship associated with jewelry of this period.
The newly added Toi et Moi epigram brings another layer of meaning to the piece. French for “you and me,” the Toi et Moi design has long represented two individuals joined together, traditionally associated with love, partnership and the connection between two people. The diamond setting is beautifully executed in silver, complementing the original platinum work while giving the pendant a wonderful romantic sentiment.
I particularly love the combination of the original Art Deco design with the newly made diamond details. The fine setting, platinum construction and unusual composition make this a fabulous example of antique jewelry reimagined with respect for its original craftsmanship. The pressure closure bail is a beautiful finishing detail, allowing the pendant to be worn on a variety of chains.
Crafted in platinum, silver and diamond weighing 11.9 grams, the pendant measures approximately 20 x 20 mm, excluding the bail. The reverse retains the original engraved initials “MWT,” a lovely personal detail connecting the piece to its earlier history.
