This antique Russian ring is just so good. A huge chunky old mine cut diamond sits low and flush into the top of this heavy 14k gold and silver band, with the gold showing the slightest warm rose color from age. The whole thing has that raw, very old feel that is almost impossible to reproduce. The diamond is approx. 2.50 carats, with broad chunky facets, an irregular outline and that incredible old mine cut glow. Approx. M / I1, but this stone has so much presence and life that the grade is absolutely not the story here.
The ring weighs 12.2 grams and measures approx. 10.7 × 9 mm across the band. The substantial construction gives that big diamond the coolest low, almost embedded profile on the finger. The contrast of the slightly rose-toned rich solid gold with the silver around the diamond is so strong, and I love that this is still an old OG Russian ring rather than a newer mounting built around an antique stone. Russian hallmarked. Currently a US size 7.5, but fits closer to approx. a 6.5 due to the width. Sizable.
