The glowing patina on this one gets me. Beautifully made in 18k yellow gold and decorated with a collection of musical instruments including a lyre, drum, horn, and what appears to be a flute or fife, all worked in raised relief across the front. The original handwritten family tag remains with the piece and references family information dating to circa 1872, giving it the kind of provenance we rarely get to see survive with a locket.
Measures 34.4 x 28.4 mm and weighs 15 grams. The snap closure is secure and the original photographs are still tucked safely inside. A wonderful piece of family history with incredible color, warmth, and the sort of honest age that only comes from being loved for generations.
