Such an incredible piece of French sporting history from the late 19th century. This antique cycling medal dates to circa 1892 and commemorates the Bordeaux–Paris cycling race, with an elaborate openwork gold design set with rose cut diamonds and small accents of sapphire, ruby and emerald. The detailing is insane from every angle, with scrolling gold work, tiny gemstone accents and a wonderfully graphic central monogram. Even the reverse is engraved around the frame, tying the entire piece directly back to the race.

Crafted in 18k yellow gold and weighing a substantial 22.8 grams. Measures approx. 48 × 30 mm, not including the bail. Set throughout with rose cut diamonds along with sapphire, ruby and emerald accents. The original large bail makes it easy to wear as a pendant, while the age, construction and surviving inscriptions make this so much more than just a great-looking piece of antique jewelry. A seriously special piece with incredible design and history.
